Outpost to the sea
Like the Balneario on La Caleta beach, Cádiz is virtually an outpost to the Atlantic Ocean. An island in ancient times, inhabited since the bronze age, it lies amidst the Bahia de Cádiz, now connected to the mainland by a stretch of land that carries only a motorway and a railway, besides an endless strip of white sandy beach.
And the heart of a great province
Not many foreign travellers know how rich the Provincia de Cádiz is (but ask those from the UK who reside in the Campo de Gibraltar). It spans from the mouth of the Guadalquivir to the southernmost spot of Europe, Tarifa, from the Cabo de Trafalgar to the mountainous refuges of the Sierra de Grazalema. And then there are Jerez de la Frontera, Medina Sidonia, Sanlucar de Barameda, etc. etc.!

La Caleta, the town´s cozy shell-like beach you have all seen in a Bond-film and didn´t know.
